The theme of conformism in contemporary society is fundamental to this performance. People rush quickly and uncritically towards the „new normal“. All new ideologies, rules, norms and identities are accepted far too easily. But what happens when you oppose them? Who is right and who is wrong are questions to which we seek an answer. One side demands rules for itself, with which it oppresses the other with the same force with which it had supposedly been oppressed until now. This confrontation in society, its division into two extremes and the categorical refusal to accept the opposing position are the reason why Stratiev’s play „The Maximalist“ can be read as strikingly relevant today. Before us is a family (a mini-society) in which the integration of the „different one“ leads to a serious collision. The question, however, is who is the „different one“?
